It’s a simple questions, but has many answers.  You can register your domain name anywhere you want.  It isn’t a requirement that you register your domain with your web hosting company.  You will find that a number of web hosting company want you to register your Doman with them.  They will give you lots of techie talk about doing this. But the truth is, you can register your domain anywhere you want.

I would suggest you do this on your own.  Use GoDaddy, or Network Solution.  That way you have complete control of your domain name.  All you have to do then is point your name server to what your web hosting company tell you to use and your done.

Remember simple hosting is the what you want.
